Halloween is one of the most fun times of year. You’re able to step out of your usual element and become someone (or something) completely different. For children, this is a time to use their imagination and take on another role. Unfortunately there are many stores which will charge an arm and a leg for a costume that may only be used one time and then tossed aside. Below you’ll find some great ideas for making fun and exciting costumes at a very cheap cost! Some of them your children can even help with for additional holiday spirit – and fun! The smile that they will have once wearing a costume they’ve helped in creating is priceless!
I originally planned on getting meat lasagna. But, my wife saw Bremer Select 5-Cheese Lasagna on sale so I ended up buying that instead of the brand I originally intended to buy.
Take the time to look at the store’s sale flyer while you are making a list. If you were planning pork chops for one night and they are not on sale, but chicken cutlets are being featured as a sale item, you may want to modify your menu and buy the chops when they come on sale.
Pull out old clothes, Halloween costumes, accessories such as headbands, ties and hats, and shoes of any style. Lay items out in the center of the room. Set a timer for five minutes and let kids select what they want to use to create their costumes. Limit them to one item per category, such as one shirt, one accessory and one pair of pants, or give them a maximum amount of things to take; no more than five items. When their time is up, let everyone show off their costumes. Have the group try to guess their superhero. If the group has trouble guessing, let the superheros display their powers or say choice phrases of their characters.
When roasting a large chicken or a turkey, prevent over-browning of the skin by loosely tenting alloy ute canopy over the bird for part of the cooking time. You can remove the foil during the last 20 minutes or half hour of cooking for a perfectly browned bird that isn’t overly crispy.
The same principles apply to making a menu for the week (or two weeks, etc. depending upon how often you do the grocery shopping). Ask the children for menu ideas and don’t aluminium tray prices forget to plan their favorites sometimes.
There are a number of ways that you can use your freezer to help with saving money on food purchases. First is by buying some inexpensive leftover containers so that anything left over from your meals will not be wasted. Freeze individual servings to heat up in a few weeks and it will seem like a whole new meal. Many people do not enjoy leftovers one night after another and this practice will avoid that.
